Pollution has been one of the matter of concern of the environmental issues in China. In an attempt to reduce the pollution, government has made the decision to enforce stricter regulations. As a result of which from November 28th, 2016 the Chinese State Council made an important policy for environmental protection by banning and/or renovating industries in Guangdong province, which are involved in discharging heavy pollutants in the air/water. The industries which are under radar for such violations include paper industries, printing industries, leather industries, cement industries and mining enterprises.
Guangzhou Huadu is the major producer of polyester backpack, laptop backpack, PU handbag, messenger bag, canvas bag, luggage and other leather products. Chemical fiber cloth industry’s production processes such as printing and dyeing, electroplating and glazing processing of hardware accessories, leather edge paint, leather patch gluing release the highest amount of toxic waste in air and water. Many such factories in the area were forced to halt production, or to be closed. This has resulted in a shortage of raw materials; worse is some are even out of supply.
This has forced us to buy raw materials from other provinces. With the freights being higher, the price of raw materials in Huadu Shiling is estimated to jump more than 20% in the next several days. Also a lot of small wholesalers and factories has been closed on account Chinese new holidays starting since this month 20th, some bigger factories may continue production up to Jan 10, but may close much earlier. All these factors are making it difficult for us to procure the raw material on time and in lesser cost. Hence it is affecting the total production cost.
This is the most strict environmental protection policy that will be soon become a norm. The country’s rapid industrial development did contribute to the progress but also brought pollution as a side effect.
